Bali lies east of Java and is about 8 degrees south of the equator. The Bali Strait seperates the two islands and there are regular crossings by ferry between Java and Bali.
The top most peak in Bali is Mount Agung which is a volcano that is even now active. It stands at more than 3,000 metres.
Bali is surrounded by coral reefs that are both exquisite and unsafe. There are loads of beaches around Bali a number of made of white sand and the rest made of black sand that arrives from the volcanic rock.
Bali has no key water system, though the river can be traveled by the small sampan boats. In spite of this there are a number of rivers that are well-liked with the tourists for white water rafting some of them gush all the way through inaccesible valleys of sheer rock a number of of which are hand carved and are a sight to see.
Bali is developing as a more popular holiday destination and tourists gather to the island for the great weather, traditions and night-life which there is on offer.
The largest city is Denpasar that is the capital with a populace of approximately 300,000. Singaraja is the 2nd major area and is situated on the north coast and roughly 100,000 reside in the vicinity.
The main tourist area has mainly been Kuta though this is changing as Bali is developing more of the island and is situated near to the beach. There are several luxury villas to rent in Bali and Kuta also has a lot of hotels as well as guest house style accommodation. It can be extremely unsafe swimming off the Kuta beach as there is often exceptionally very strong rip-tides that can effortlessly transport you out to sea. The traveling time from UK to Bali is approx 15 hours; Singapore is only 2 ½ hours away. Bali being tropical has a steady temperature of 28c to 30c all year round. The rainy season being January & February but still beautiful to visit. Shorts & t-shirts are the order of the day, every day.
